v0.28.1¶
Release date: 2026-10-20
Early Access
The Luminary Cloud API and Python SDK are Early Access features that are still under development. View the Luminary Cloud Early Access Terms. The interface may change, and you may need to migrate or discard scripts and configuration files multiple times before v1.0.0 is released. In the future, migrations may also be necessary when upgrading to new major versions of the SDK (e.g. v2.0.0).
Release Notes¶
This release adds custom fields to visualization, a dilatation derived quantity, and volume outputs for Physics AI inference.
Breaking Changes¶
None.
Features¶
Scenes, data extracts, and the vis queries support custom fields (experimental): scalar fields defined by an expression over a solution’s fields, such as
vis.CustomField("p2", '"Pressure" * 2'). Register one withScene.add_custom_field()orDataExtractor.add_custom_field(), or pass it in thecustom_fieldsargument ofvis.range_query(),vis.extrema_query(), orvis.field_stats(), and reference it withCustomField.to_field(). An invalid expression fails the request; usevis.validate_custom_fields()to check expressions against a solution before rendering.import luminarycloud.vis as vis p2 = vis.CustomField("p2", '"Pressure" * 2') scene = vis.Scene(solution) scene.add_custom_field(p2) scene.global_display_attrs.field = p2.to_field()
VisQuantity.DILATATION, the divergence of velocity (∇·u, in 1/s), for compressible simulations. It can be used in scenes, color maps, range and field statistics queries, and custom field expressions. Surfaces carry zeros, because the field is computed from the volume velocity gradient.
